For the murder of a 38-year-old Temecula woman, 45-year-old Jose Velasquez was wanted. Santa Ana officials had been urged to arrest him by Menifee police. He refused to stop when his car was detected, which led to a chase. Police in Newport Beach were alerted to his arrival at around 6:50 a.m. Velasquez exited his car with a pistol and was stuck on the pier. The cops opened fire without a shot. He passed away instantly. There were no other recorded injuries.
