Description:

A terrible occurrence in Africa included a Russian-made cargo plane, the Il-76. The plane failed to stop in time during the landing in Gao, Mali, and swiftly descended into a destructive fire. The plane appeared to have landed too far down the 2,500-meter runway and failed to brake for the final 500 meters, even though the disaster footage makes it abundantly evident that it was not shot down. The Malian army owns the aircraft, but there have been allegations that it may have something to do with the Wagner army, a mercenary force that is in Mali. Wagner's close associates denied any role. The number of passengers on board is unknown, although up to 140 people are thought to have died.
