An cop assists a prisoner who attempts to take his firearm in order to get out
Description:
Surveillance footage of the officer-involved shooting at the Jefferson County Courthouse was made public by Illinois State Police. Fredrick Goss, 55, was in the courtroom garage with a correctional officer when the officer took his shackles off of him. Goss was not supposed to be in handcuffs when he appeared before the jury. Goss was taken out of the transport truck and placed in a wheelchair once the handcuffs were taken off. Goss seized the correctional officer's firearm while he was in the wheelchair and, following a fight, disarmed him. A Jefferson County deputy who was in charge of courtroom security went to help the cop after spotting the altercation on a security video. After arriving on the scene, the deputy shot the attacker twice in the torso, rendering him unconscious. After being brought to the hospital, Goss was sent to a facility in the St. Louis region.
