An off-duty police officer strikes a driver

Allen Ganter, a 57-year-old off-duty police officer, was honked at by 37-year-old truck driver Thomas Brocuglio for an incorrect driving technique (while on the phone) during an encounter in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. The honking irritated Ganter, who went up to Brocuglio, took a picture of his license plate, and threatened to give him a ticket. When Brocuglio demanded his badge number, the altercation became heated, and Ganter punched him in the face. Ganter was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after threatening to be arrested. He received a five-day unpaid suspension and was ordered to complete three years of crisis management training.
