Mehdi Habibi, 17, was tragically washed away by a wave on Granite Island, South Australia, as his brother Sahil watched helplessly. The wave struck Mehdi as he had gone to the rocks for his brother's shot. Mehdi has not yet been located, despite the emergency services' and the air rescue unit's attempts. Originally from Afghanistan, the Habibi family had recently visited Granite Island to celebrate Father's Day after being reunited with their father in Australia. The rescue effort is being complicated by challenging weather conditions. Visitors will not be able to access Granite Island until further notice.
