Nacreous clouds are defined by Wikipedia as clouds that originate in the stratosphere between 15,000 and 25,000 meters above the ground. Rare, nacreous clouds mostly arise in the wintertime near the poles. Abisko saw the appearance of a nacreous cloud on Sunday, December 29.
