Security in Qatar threatens to destroy journalists' cameras
Description:
Journalists like Rasmus Tantholdt are already in Qatar to cover the teams, who are already there, even if the soccer World Cup hasn't begun yet. Qatari security officers pull up in a tiny car as the Danish journalist begins his intervention in front of a traffic roundabout in the heart of downtown Doha. By putting their hand in front of the camera, they command the interruption of the live broadcast. Rasmus responds, "It's a public place; why can't we film?" After that, he displays his credentials and gives an English explanation of his purpose. One of the security officers threatened to smash the camera at the same moment. Given that 6500 (some estimate 15000) people lost their lives preparing for this World Cup, are we truly shocked by the way this nation treats its citizens? Not at all.
