Description:
The same-named carnival is celebrated annually in the city of Ivrea in northern Italy. A massive orange combat is staged on Shrove Sunday, Shrove Monday, and Shrove Tuesday before to Ash Wednesday. Hundreds of tons of oranges have been used as missiles, and the Ivrea carnival has drawn large audiences since the Middle Ages.
