A contentious decision was made to permit two female boxers who had previously been disqualified from world championships because of their biological male sexual orientation to fight in the women's division during a recent Olympic tournament. Despite being eliminated from the tournament the year before due to questions over their biological sex, IOC officials determined that Taiwan's Lin Yu-Ting and Algeria's Imane Khelif satisfied the eligibility requirements.
