Thugs targeted a shopping mall in Los Angeles, and a witness captured them on camera taking jewelry from a store owner who attempted to repel them. In an effort to allay public anxiety over the city's recent spike in burglaries, Los Angeles police said Thursday that 14 suspects had been taken into custody in relation to 11 robberies that had occurred in the previous few weeks. All of the suspects were freed on the same day, either due to their age or the fact that their crime—less than $950 stolen—did not call for pretrial imprisonment.
