Two climbers are killed after a ledge collapses due to a traffic bottleneck on Everest
Description:
On May 21, a catastrophic catastrophe occurred on Everest due to traffic congestion caused by climbers. Six climbers fell after a piece of ledge gave way. Two are still unaccounted for, while four were saved by their ropes. Every year, hundreds of climbers flock to the climbing season, increasing the risk of the ascent. This year, Nepal issued more over 900 permits, 419 of which were for Everest. The season saw 18 fatalities on the highest mountains in the world in 2023, highlighting the heightened dangers of this overtourism.
