Unfortunately, a criminal confronts cops after stealing something

Following his theft of goods from a Co-op store on Mansfield Road in Sherwood, Kirk Wharton, a 33-year-old repeat criminal, got into a physical altercation with police. Wharton, who had just stolen food items including meat, cheese, and fish to support his drug habit, ran across police looking into a string of theft instances as he was leaving the store. According to the Nottingham Crown Court, Wharton stole many times between June 18 and August 8, 2023. Wharton, who the prosecutor characterized as a frequent shoplifter, declined to enroll in a drug rehabilitation program in spite of efforts to assist and rehabilitate him. He pleaded guilty to 26 charges and received a sentence of 22 weeks in jail.
