On Saturday, June 22, a troubling incident occurred during an independent wrestling competition in Concord, North Carolina. A parent became irate with the match referee during a bout between two child wrestlers. The referee stopped the combat to instruct a competitor in a white leotard to release his opponent's leg, but the competitor misinterpreted his command. Disappointed with the state of affairs, the child's father yelled and launched an assault. That same evening, the referee filed a complaint, and the father was taken into custody in his home state of Virginia. After being freed on bond, he was required to present himself in to the North Carolina police, but a week later, he reportedly failed to do so.
