The first openly homosexual imam, Muhsin Hendricks, was assassinated in South Africa. He was a 57-year-old mosque leader in Cape Town that accepted homosexual Muslims. His car was targeted on Saturday morning when it was heading close to Gqeberha. According to the police, two attackers exited a car with their faces masked and started shooting repeatedly.
