Description:

While swimming alone at night in Jersey's St Ouens Bay, a swimmer was flung into a sea wall and saved from perilous seas. He was in critical condition and couldn't go back to the beach without a wetsuit and flotation equipment. He received assistance from two Jersey Fire and Rescue Service workers, both of whom were injured by the waves. For this sensitive operation, troops from Jersey Coastguard and Jersey Fire and Rescue were recruited. The rescuers were able to return him to the shore in spite of the adverse circumstances. To reduce these hazards, Jersey Coast Guard officer Ford Ramsden recommends against swimming after dark.
