A young man is killed in a police pursuit

Following a fast-paced pursuit that ended in a deadly collision in Diboll early on Tuesday morning, a juvenile was taken into custody. An officer pulled over a car on S. Bynum St. about 1:30 a.m. when the driver did not stay in his lane, according to Lufkin police. A 17-year-old teenager was recognized as the driver, according to the authorities. The motorist drove to over 160 kph and zigzagged between cars on Southwood Drive in defiance of the officer's orders to halt. Police used nails at the intersection of Southwood Dr. and U.S. 59 to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued to drive on flat tires.
