A driver tries to kill two police officers (public alert)
Description:
A 23-year-old man fired at two St. Petersburg cops this past weekend, causing them to return fire and wounding the suspect in the leg, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff. When officers Ronald McKenzie and Pavel Kuznetsov got at 10790 3rd Street North, they saw Austin Kingos, the suspect, in a white pickup vehicle. Kingos, who was sought on a misdemeanor charge of breaking a harassment order, was initially contacted by Officer McKenzie. The guy grew upset and was not immediately forthcoming when the police requested for identification. Kingos spun around and started kicking and actively resisting Officer McKenzie when he unlocked the driver's side door. Kingos shot at the cops, who had been carrying a gun from the beginning. The bullet entered the apartment through a window, lodged in a door, and actually grazed McKenzie's skull. Kingos's rifle jammed, fortunately, and McKenzie started shooting back, hurting Kingos in the leg. The suspect tried to flee after realizing he was unarmed, but authorities swiftly apprehended and subdued him. Kingos fell in love with a woman at a shop that sold smoking materials a while back. They got together to smoke weed. There was no romantic relationship between him and the woman. But Kingos, obsessed with her, persisted and began sending unwanted items to her home. She was granted a restraining order on June 15, which forbade Kingos from getting in touch with her or carrying a firearm. Investigators claim that he broke the restraining order on Saturday by having a box sent to the woman's house that included baby items and a breast pump (WTF?). When the suspect came home, she called St. Pete police once more, and they promptly found him.
