Description:

Erik Bertelsen, 35, was fatally shot by police in West Valley City, Utah, after he stabbed his parents, Terrie, 63, and Kerry Bertelsen, 67. Although the first 911 call was unclear, authorities stepped in after hearing strange noises. They went down the basement and discovered Bertelsen still stabbed while kneeling. He refused to lower his firearm in defiance of their demands. The tension persisted until the cops determined he was not breathing, even after they fired to halt him.
