At Peahi, a surfer vanishes under a terrifying wave

In the face of a massive wave, surfer Ty Simpson-Kane had an amazing encounter on Maui's Peahi beach, commonly called Jaws. The Instagram account Fishbowl Diaries posted a video of the surfer being flung forcefully from his board, flipping over five times, and then going beneath the ocean. He was safely taken to shore by safety crews. On the Internet, Ty thanked everyone and said the fall was one of the most memorable in his career. He is adamant that this is only the beginning in spite of everything.
