After Adam Johnson died in 2023 after a skate slashed his neck during a game, Canadian field hockey player Matt Petgrave will not face charges. Despite Petgrave's manslaughter arrest, the Crown Prosecution Service declared that no charges will be filed. South Yorkshire Police interviewed witnesses, looked at footage, and carried out a thorough investigation with North American specialists. The case was referred for adjudication in May 2024, but the CPS determined that a conviction was not realistically attainable.
