Description:

James Wright, a former Alleghany County sheriff's deputy, is being sued in connection with a police brutality case. Joshua Barricks was hospitalized after being detained at the Covington Farm and Fuel store two years ago as a result of police brutality by Wright, who is currently facing a $5 million lawsuit. Barricks had his hands in the air when Wright struck him twelve times in the head, according to surveillance footage. Barrick's attorney disputes Wright's plea that his actions were in line with law enforcement protocol. The trial will take place in October.
