On June 28, 2024, Georgetown Police Department Patrolman Rammel saw Mary McElroy, a lady, strolling north of US 68, close to Hamer Road, while on a normal patrol. After McElroy, who was notorious for her aggressive conduct and had an active arrest warrant, raised her bond, Rammel asked the Brown County Sheriff's Office for assistance. Rammel was attacked as McElroy got closer, but he avoided getting hit in the face. When Deputy Hardy arrived, he was able to remove everyone from the road, guaranteeing their safety. McElroy was detained and restrained after an incident. Rammel was examined and released after suffering minor injuries during the event. McElroy was brought into Brown County Jail after being accused with assaulting a police officer, obstructing, and resisting arrest.
